Amy Joins Kennedy Center Arts-in-Education Touring Program
January, 2006--Amy was selected to become part of the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts "Partners in Education" Touring Program. This program provides resources for schools interested in professional development for teachers using an arts-integrated approach to learning. Amy will be one of 30 artists available to teach workshops nationally.

Little Beaver and the Echo on CD
April, 2004--Candlewick released a hardcover and CD version of Little Beaver and the Echo. The book is read on CD by Jane Horrocks (of Ab Fab fame!). It's accompanied by music and sing/dance/play-along story-based activities.
Cousin Ruth's Tooth Out in Paperback
May, 2003--Houghton MIfflin released Cousin Ruth's Tooth in paperback, eight years--and hundreds of thousands of copies--after its first publication. Eight years is a long run in hardcover these days!
Publishers Weekly wrote of the new edition ($5.95): "The irrepressible Fister family is back, this time in high dudgeon over a younger clan member's missing tooth. 'The hunt is on, with the supremely silly family's wild-goose chase charted in an ideal marriage of text and art-work,' wrote PW in a starred review."
Other books by Amy that have remained in hardcover for an exceptional number of years include Little Beaver and the Echo (thirteen years) and Rachel Fister's Blister (twelve years).
No More Nasty Makes 11 Children's Choice Lists
October, 2003--No More Nasty has been selected for slews of "Children's Choice" annual reading lists. At last count, it was on lists in Oklahoma, Indiana, South Dakota, Iowa, New Hampshire, Louisiana, West Virginia, Missouri, Pennsylvania,Tennessee, and Rhode Island...and counting!

September, 2003--Quentin Fenton Herter III is in Japanese! I can't even begin to understand how they translated all those rhymes!
Please, Malese! Wins Oppenheim Award
November, 2002--Please, Malese! A Trickster Tale from Haiti won the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio's highest award, the Platinum, for 2002. This consumer organization reads thousands of books to select the best books for children. Winners are featured on the Today Show.
No More Nasty Translated to German
September, 2002--No More Nasty has been published in German as Nie Wieder Fies. It was fun working with the translator on how to say, "How does your corporosity seem to gashiate?" in German!
Little Beaver and the Echo Chosen for Literacy Program
August, 2002--Amy helped dozens of Read With ME volunteers, including then-Governor Angus King and First Lady Mary Herman, stuffed 18,000 bags with two new books, to be given to every kindergarten student in the state of Maine last year. One of those books was Little Beaver and the Echo!
Read With ME is a literacy program designed to get books into the hands of every child in Maine before they enter school. It is sponsored by Verizon, the Department of Education, and the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance.
